I know lots of users would like to make their own custom or modified firmware. There is not much info on how to use PS3 MFW Builder, for noobs. I am in no way a dev, but I have learned the basics to use the builder. Whether you want to just add the noBD patch to your favorite CFW, so you can use apps and play games without a blu ray drive connected. Or if you want to start with the latest OFW as a base, and create your own personalized CFW/MFW. This guide will show you what needs to be done.

Before we start, I want everyone to know. You should not use this guide unless you have a hardware flasher! Although there is not much risk with simple patches like bypass RSOD, or removing BD or BT firmware. If you are going to be trying to make an all out personalized MFW, be prepared to brick your PS3! With that being said, I hope you have fun with this great program.

Download and install - 

First download MFW Builder installer here. Follow the instructions on that page to download, install, run, and update.

Attention

To use this video with OFW 4.70, you will have to replace the keys file with (THIS ONE HERE), located at where you pointed PS3_KEYS in settings.

NOTE: Your antivirus might want to quarantine some of the .exe files, and/or the Install Our MFW Builder.exe. This is most likely the reason so many have had problems getting it to work. So make exceptions in your antivirus for them. I have Norton and used Norton Insight to tell it to trust all the .exe files. Also in Settings of Norton Internet Security I made it exclude the program folder and all sub folders at C:Program Files/RedDotCity & PS3Hax. 


TASKS

The different tasks you choose, will patch different things. If you patch the wrong things, it could brick your PS3.
