We're a little more than a month away from E3, the annual gaming extravaganza in Los
Angeles, and that means developers are starting to show their cards. And Electronic Arts
has a pretty big one to share soon.
EA has just revealed that it will offer up a Battlefield World Premiere streaming event next
week on Friday, 6 May at 9pm BST. According to the official site, it will deliver "a first
look at the future of Battlefield," which of course is EA and DICE's much-loved, large-scale
military shooter favourite.
According to Polygon, creative director Lars Gustavsson will be joined by lead producer
Aleksandar Grondal to discuss what's ahead for the series, as well as talk a bit about
Battlefield and its history. They'll also reportedly take questions during the live stream, so
start thinking up some good ones.
Last year saw the release of Battlefield Hardline, but it was a strong deviation from the
rest of the series and spearheaded by Visceral Games. Hardline was all about cops vs.
robbers, and while it kept some of the same elements and delivered great online fun, it
wasn't quite the same knockout with critics and series aficionados.

with the debut of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game was famously packed with bugs
and glitches upon release, and struggled for months to offer a stable online experience.
It eventually got there, but the impact still looms large in many players' minds. Since then,
DICE developed Star Wars Battlefront, which thankfully had a smoother rollout.
This isn't our first hint that a fresh Battlefield was on the horizon. Back in March, a presentation
from EA's chief financial officer, Blake Jorgensen, reportedly said that a new Battlefield would
release between October and December this year. He also mentioned Titanfall 2, according to
the report, and that has since been revealed for a proper E3 unveiling.
Meanwhile, chief competitor Call of Duty looks to be preparing Infinite Warfare for later this
year, alongside a remastered version of 2007's acclaimed Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare,
so there's sure to be plenty of competition for the military shooter die-hards out there. We'll
