Everyone’s favorite genie is returning to the PlayStation 4, as WayForward announced
today that Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse will hit Sony’s console on April 19. The
colorful platformer will be available through the PlayStation Network and will carry a
cost of $19.99, with a 25% discount for PS+ subscribers.
Previously released on the Wii U, Xbox One, 3DS and Windows PC, Shantae and the
Pirate’s Curse is the latest chapter of the acclaimed WayForward series. Following the
events of Risky’s Revenge, the titular heroine is now forced to partner with her
nemesis, Risky Boots, due to loss of her magic. With access to new Pirate powers,
Shantae must master new weapons and slay epic monsters in order to save Sequin Land.
Despite the fact that I enjoyed Risky’s Revenge when I played through it last year, I still
haven’t gotten around to playing Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse yet. We did previously
cover the game on both the 3DS and Xbox One though, and both versions of the sequel
received excellent reviews, so it seems that no matter what platform you choose, you’ll
have a good time.
